Problems with executive function may impact language skills, academics, and social skills
Some signs of executive function difficulty:

difficulty planning a project

difficulty comprehending how much time a project will take to complete

struggling to tell a story (verbally or in writing)

trouble communicating details in an organized, sequential manner

difficulty with the mental strategies involved in memorization and retrieving information from memory

difficulty initiating activities or tasks, or generating ideas independently

difficulty retaining information while doing something with it; e.g., remembering a phone number while dialing.
Some components of executive function training:
- Learn about thinking/planning ahead
- Learn to use strategies such as self-talk, visualization, problem solving, and prediction
- Learn self-monitoring and managing the use of time
- Learn strategies that can save time
